- I finally got a hold of the "new" SuperTCP v4.0 from Frontier Technologies.
- Everything locally works great, it's the darn PPP connection that's kicking my
- butt.
- I have a dialup PPP account through Netcom that works "flawlessly" with
- Chameleon v4.0 but I can't get SuperTCP v4.0 to be happy with it. Either
- Netcom hangs up a few seconds into the call or it disconnects during the
- "authentication phase."
- Anybody else been daring enough to try this package?

- Subject: PC-NFS Telnet and WinMosaic
-
- Using WinMosaic (any version as far as I can tell) with PC-NFS, I am
- unable to get URLs of the form telnet://username@some.where:port/ to
- fire up telnet correctly. The username part gets presented in a dialog
- box as expected but telnet *seems* to be passed some.where:port and is
- unable to unpack it into its constituent parts.
-
- Is there any way that I can use PC-NFS telnet with WinMosaic or do I
- have to resort to (say) NCSA Telnet.
-
- Many thanks,
-
- Bret

- Subject: Regarding Re: SMTP mail Client - SLIP
-
- I'm trying to set up WS_GMAIL to work on my home PC using winsock with
- dial-up SLIP with dynamic IP allocation. Obviously, this is impractical
- as a regular E-Mail address. I have a VAX account E-Mail address which
- uses SMTP protocol. WS_GMAIL, however, only "listens" to my allocated IP.
- QUESTION: Is there a way to have it "listen" to my VAX account instead?
- I know you can do this with POP3 protocol machines (with WS_MAIL, Eudora,
- etc). Is it possible to get the SMTP server to listen to my account,
- maybe by changing or adding a line to the WS_GMAIL.INI file??
-
- Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

- I'd say that it's worth the WFW 3.11 upgrade - definitely! I was amazed at how
- different from 3.1 it was a lot more that the .01 would imply - it seemed like
- a whole new rewrite. This is especially true of the network end of things. Its
- a lot less hassle, and a lot more aware of the existence of other simultaneous
- protocols. The second beta (mtcpb2.exe "Dayona" the April Release) is the one
- you want, they are active at fixing bugs and providing new features and the 2nd
- is a definite improvement on the 1st (which was already very good) - ALSO,
- its FREE once you have 3.11, and a cinch to install/remove.
